Chocolate Coffee Cake Recipe
Chocolate Coffee Cake Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1/4 cup hot coffee
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Chocolate Coffee Cake Directions
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Add flour and buttermilk alternately, ending with the flour. Next, add cocoa and salt. Put baking soda in a cup and pour 1/4 cup of hot coffee. While it’s fizzing, pour this into creamed mixture and mix well. Add vanilla and put into 3 greased layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cover with chocolate frosting if desired.
