Rolled Sugar Cookie Recipe
Rolled Sugar Cookie Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 Tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 cups flour, sifted
- 3 tsp. baking powder
Directions for Rolled Sugar Cookies
Cream butter, add sugar. Add eggs, milk, vanilla, and cream well. Then add flour and baking powder. Chill 10 minutes. Roll and cut into desired shapes. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes until light brown. May be decorated with colored sugar.
White Sugar Cookies
White Sugar Cookie Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions for White Sugar CookiesIn a small bowl, sift flour, cream of tartar and baking soda together. Set aside. In a large bowl, cream butter and gradually add sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Add vanilla and nutmeg, then add dry ingredients. Blend well until dough is soft. Chill dough in refrigerator for several hours. Roll thin on well floured table top. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 425 degrees for about 8 minutes. When cooled, frost and decorate as desired.

Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookie Ingredients
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 tablespoons sour cream
Directions for Old Fashioned Sugar CookiesMix and sift flour and salt. Cream butter well. Add sugar gradually and continue creaming until light and fluffy. Add well beaten eggs and extracts and mix. Dissolve baking soda in sour cream. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with cream mixture. Chill for 2 to 3 hours. Roll 1/8″ thick. Cut with floured cookie cutter, then sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 7 minutes.

- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 1/2 cups flour
Directions for Sugar CookiesCream together sugar, eggs and margarine. Sift dry ingredients together, add alternately with sour cream. Don’t make too stiff. Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. Grease the bottom of a glass and dip in sugar. Use it to flatten each cookie. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Makes 6 dozen Sugar Cookies.
Grandma’s Sugar Cookie Recipe
Grandma’s Sugar Cookie Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup oil
- 5 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions for Grandma’s Sugar CookiesCombine flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar in a bowl. In electric mixer beat butter, add the sugar, powdered sugar, eggs, oil and vanilla. Add in the dry ingredients. Form balls of dough and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Press cookies into flat rounds using the bottom of a water glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 -12 minutes or until the cookies are a very pale golden brown on the bottom.

- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Frosting
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup cream or milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Directions for Sugar CookiesMix thoroughly butter, egg, powdered sugar, vanilla and almond extract. Blend in flour, soda and cream of tartar. Chill for 2 to 3 hours in a covered bowl. Preheat oven and grease cookie sheets. Divide dough in half and roll out to 3/16″ thick on q lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes and place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes or until lightly browned.
Frosting: Mix butter and yolks in bowl until fluffy. Add vanilla, cream and salt. Mix on low speed for 1 minute. Gradually add powdered sugar until desired thickness is acquired.
