Butterscotch Cookies
Butterscotch Cookie Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2/3 cup chopped nuts
Burnt Butter Icing Ingredients
- 6 teaspoons butter
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions for Butterscotch Cookies
Cream shortening and add sugar. Blend in well beaten eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients and sour cream alternately. Chill well. Form into balls and bake for 8-10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet at 400 degrees.
Burnt Butter Icing
Melt 6 tsp butter until delicately brown. Remove from heat. Stir in 1 1/2 cups of sifted powdered sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla and enough hot water to make it easy to spread. Spread over Butterscotch Cookies.
