Peach Cobbler Recipe

Peach Cobbler Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 2 1/2 cups fresh or canned peaches
  • butter
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Directions for Peach Cobbler

Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cornstarch together in sauce pan.  Stir in fruit gradually.  Bring to boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.  Pour into 1 1/2 quart baking dish or 8 inch square pan.  Dot with butter.  Sift together remaining sugar and other dry ingredients;  cut in shortening.  Stir in milk and beat until moist.  Drop by spoonfuls onto hot fruit.  Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Serve Peach Cobbler warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
